Martyr's Memorial
The Martyr's Memorial is located on the heights of Algiers, in the municipality of El Madania, west of the Bois des arcades, east of the city Diar el Mahcoul and north of the esplanade of the Riadh El Feth shopping center. It overlooks the Hamma district (commune of Belouizdad) and the Jardin d'essai to the north.
The monument, 92 meters high, built according to a model by the painter Bachir Yellès who imagined three stylized palms representing the three "cultural, agrarian and industrial revolutions", or intended to symbolize three periods in the history of Algeria: resistance to occupation and colonization, the war of national liberation, the present and the future of the country, is composed of three stylized concrete palm leaves which meet at mid-height (47 meters).
