Sacred Heart Cathedral
The cathedral of the Sacred Heart was built from 1904 to 1913 by the construction company of the Auguste brothers, it is the work of the architect Albert Ballu who was at the time the architect of the French government of Algeria. The realization of the cathedral is mainly due to Monsignor Cantel who was at the time bishop of the city of Oran and who had made it his number one priority. On his death in 1910, he bequeathed his entire fortune for the completion of the construction work. After the independence of Algeria, the building became a library. The city promotes the building to the rank of historical monument of the city of Oran.
